[location & souvenir]Japanese Traditional Candy!!

These are so pretty, aren't they???
These candies are fruits flavored candies created in the same style with Japanese traditional candy "KINTARO-AME."

KINTARO-AME originally was started in Edo-Period, more than 400 years before from now.
The original store which actually started in Edo-Period still exists in Taito ward, Tokyo.
Thier representative product is this one:)

How do you think of this boys...?I think they are cute.lol
KINTARO is a boy who appear in Japanese famouse folk tale.

And the process of these candy creation is amazing.
Step 1: place each colors

Step:2 put each tube of candies together

Step 3: Strech each candies

Step 4: cut tube of candy into pieces

Step 5: It's done!
Well, if you are interested, you  should check this company's web site:)
It's in Japanese, but they are telling more details; http://www.kintarou.co.jp/ame.shtml

Would you like to try these candies??
Well, they look so pretty, but the taste also is great.
Though they contains tons of sugar, it tastes very natural and healthy. Very Japanese like taste, I think.

And the remarkable thing is; they are developing its original to follow the fashion.

This original comapny KINTARO-AME-HONTEN is creating these custom designs now.
You can make your own drawing into candy!
And the store, I visited for the fruits flavored ones is called papabubble.
This is more modern store for these candies. It's uniqueness is worth visiting!

papabubble is started in Barcelona, 2004. So I wonder whether they got the inspiration from Japaense Edo-period candies. Considering from that a man eating sushi shaped candie with chop sticks on the top picture of thier web-site, they may be enjoying Japanese style.
What I want to say is, I think it's great thing to continue the great traditional spirit and make it combine with modern trend;)

The stores are located in three places;
Nakano,Tokyo/Kamiyacho,Shibuya,Tokyo/ Aiochou,Yokohama

The store I visited is the one in Shibuya, Tokyo. It's right infront of Japanese public TV station NHK.
You can take a look at its theme park called STUDIO PARK at the same time!
The entrance fee for STUDIO PARK is free during July 21th to August 12nd due to the Olympic games.
